Political Wisdom

 Liberty must be balanced with responsibility . The fullness of individual liberty may only be achieved upon fullness of maturity .  If all do right by each other then all rights shall be assured . Freedom is the most thrilling , and yet chilling thing conceivable . For once one drinks of the sweet nectar of liberty nothing else will satisfy the soul . One will even sacrifice one's own life in order to retain it . But freedom can only be freely chosen . One cannot force another to be free . For you can bring someone to the free flowing waters , but cannot make someone else drink of it . Otherwise such people will not feel liberated , but rather violated . For their betterment , or detriment , persons have free wills of their own , to do with as they deem fit . One should therefore pursue not only freedom but also wisdom , so that one might know how to best use one's freedom . Plus, not only can a people not be at once both ignorant and free , but also once a person comes to attain knowledge , they will no longer be content to be ruled over by the incompetent , who are negligent, and willfully ignorant. Personal responsibility does not always exist . For a person might be dependent upon others for sustenance , and assistance . Such dependence negates the ability for personal responsibility . Another thing is that one person's actions and decisions can impact other people's circumstances , which they have no control over . This is why a person's responsibility is in proportion to their ability . The lesser the opportunity for self government , the less the level of personal responsibility . The common good should take precedence over personal freedom . Communitarianism is to be favored over on one hand libertarianism , and on the other totalitarianism . Civil authority is the thesis , civil liberty is the antithesis , and a civil society is the synthesis . The rightful purpose of authority is to ensure mutual accountability . The people should be subject to the just power of the state , while the state should be held to account by the people .  In this way , the state need not fear rebellion , and the people need not fear oppression . All those disloyal to the state is an enemy of the people , of whom the state is the collective embodiment of . And any state that mistreats its people is a traitor to the national community .  The nation is like a family .  The head of state is , if a man, the father of the fatherland , or if a woman , the mother of the motherland . The citizens are likable to its children .  In so much as the state provides for , protects  , directs, and as needed corrects the citizens , so the citizens should respect the civil authority , in like manner to how they should regard their own parents .  Political power has both a light and a dark side . One the left side of the political spectrum , an example of the light side would be liberal socialism , and on the dark side an example would be barracks communism . On the right , the light side would be represented by one nation conservatism , and the dark side by national conservatism .  In the center , I suppose that the light side would be characterized by third way social liberalism , and the dark side by third position integralism .  We are meant to love people , and use things . Problems arise when we come to use people , and love things .   The economy should be serving the people , not the people serving the economy . With the former there is shared prosperity . Under the latter there is poverty and wealth disparity . Therefore the good of the beloved community must take precedence over private property . Warcraft is merely statecraft carried out by other means , and vice versa .  Sometimes warfare is justifiably necessary , even though you do not desire it . It very well may be that what you desire is not what is best for the greater good , and what you shy away from is for the ultimate best . One need not always wait until a venomous snake strikes out at you before you cut off its head . The shake of its rattle should suffice as a valid provocation .  Strike first , strike fast , strike hard . For in a fight time is of the essence . Stand up for what is right , and just , even if it be against yourself , your country , or even your family . In respects to the lofty and the lowly alike .  Do not let personal feelings stand in the way of upholding justice , both within yourself , and in regard to society at large .
